<p><strong><a href="https://terratechconsulting.com.au/">TerraTech Consulting</a></strong> partnered with <strong>GIS Pro</strong> to analyse and quantify erosion on a tailing facility. The goal was to assess soil loss over time and ensure it remained within safety thresholds.</p>

<p>Using high-resolution <strong>LiDAR survey data</strong> from 2022, 2023, and 2024, <strong>GIS Pro</strong> compared changes against a <strong>2018 baseline survey</strong>. This approach allowed us to systematically identify erosion features and estimate the volume of soil lost at each stage.</p>

<p>Our analysis provided <strong>accurate and repeatable results</strong>, helping<strong> TerraTech </strong>track erosion trends over multiple years. <strong>Field measurements</strong> conducted by TerraTech confirmed that the erosion estimates aligned with on-the-ground observations.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Reliable GIS Support Throughout the Project</h2>

<p>GIS Pro provided <strong>continuous GIS support</strong> during the project ensuring that TerraTech had access to <strong>accurate geospatial analysis</strong> and up-to-date data for erosion monitoring.</p>

<p>By leveraging high-resolution LiDAR data and GIS analysis, <strong>GIS Pro</strong> helped TerraTech <strong>gain a clear understanding of erosion patterns</strong> and ensure the site remained within safety limits. Our <strong>GIS-driven approach</strong> enabled TerraTech to proactively manage erosion risks on the tailing facility.</p>

<p>GIS Pro supported UDLA with developing Port Hedland&#8217;s Public Open Space Strategy.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1148" height="1085" src="http://51.161.208.234:8080/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/cooke-point-locality-1.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1323" srcset="https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/cooke-point-locality-1.jpg 1148w, https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/cooke-point-locality-1-300x284.jpg 300w, https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/cooke-point-locality-1-1024x968.jpg 1024w, https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/cooke-point-locality-1-768x726.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1148px) 100vw, 1148px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Context</h2>

<p>A Public Open Space Strategy shapes future developments and guide the management of parks and reserves.</p>

<p>The Town of Port Hedland was looking to develop a network of POS to serve a diverse range of purposes, whilst encouraging a healthy lifestyle.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Scope</h3>

<p>GIS Pro worked alongside with UDLA to develop Port Hedland’s vision for open space; producing detailed maps and GIS analysis of the current POS provision.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Outcome</h3>

<p>The GIS work allowed assessing the proportion of POS in Port Hedland suburbs. This enabled a comparison against the Western Australian Planning Commission policies and contributed to the development of Port Hedland Public Open Space Strategy.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1552" height="1047" src="http://51.161.208.234:8080/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Koombana-locality.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1324" srcset="https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Koombana-locality.jpg 1552w, https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Koombana-locality-300x202.jpg 300w, https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Koombana-locality-1024x691.jpg 1024w, https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Koombana-locality-768x518.jpg 768w, https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Koombana-locality-1536x1036.jpg 1536w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1552px) 100vw, 1552px" /></figure>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow">
<h3 class="wp-block-heading">We engaged GIS Pro at the later stages of a complex project. They made themselves immediately available and diligently responded to the challenging technical requirements and time-frames. My only regret was not involving them sooner&#8230;they will be a key part of our team going forward.</h3>

<p><strong>Scott Lang</strong></p>
