<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Deep Yellow Streamlined Their Operations with GIS Pro&#8217;s Enterprise GIS Solution</h2>

<p>At <strong><a href="/.">GIS Pro</a></strong>, our goal is to help clients become autonomous with spatial data and enhance their GIS capabilities. <a href="https://deepyellow.com.au/"><strong>Deep Yellow</strong></a>, a uranium exploration company, is a great example of this. By adopting our <strong><a href="/enterprise-gis-solution/mining-and-exploration/">Enterprise GIS Solution</a></strong>, they transformed the way they manage and use spatial data across their organisation.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Centralised Spatial Database – A Single Source of Truth</h3>

<p>The first step was to consolidate all GIS data into a <strong>central spatial database</strong>.<br>This database stores all internal GIS layers, from geology data to environmental constraints and approvals.</p>

<p><strong>Public data layers</strong> are updated automatically, which saves time and reduces errors.<br>This automation ensures the team always works with the latest, most reliable data.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" src="http://51.161.208.234:8080/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/gis-info-3.svg" alt="Enterprise GIS Solution Overview" class="wp-image-1493"/></figure>

<p>With our support, Deep Yellow’s team developed the <strong>skills to maintain this database themselves</strong>.<br>They are now autonomous, handling updates and maintaining data quality with confidence.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Seamless Field Data Collection with MerginMaps</h3>

<p>For fieldwork, Deep Yellow uses <strong><span style="color: #004c45;">MerginMaps</span></strong>, a tool fully integrated into the Enterprise GIS Solution.<br>Geologists, environmental staff, and field teams collect data directly on their mobile devices.<br>This covers a wide range of activities including geology mapping, rehabilitation tracking, and checking heritage sites.</p>

<p>Field data syncs automatically to the central database.<br>This gives office staff immediate access to the latest data, reducing delays and ensuring decisions are based on up-to-date information.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="633" height="1260" src="http://51.161.208.234:8080/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/merginmaps-soils.jpg" alt="Field Data Collection with MerginMaps: soil sampling collection app" class="wp-image-1512" style="width:250px" srcset="https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/merginmaps-soils.jpg 633w, https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/merginmaps-soils-151x300.jpg 151w, https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/merginmaps-soils-514x1024.jpg 514w" sizes="(max-width: 633px) 100vw, 633px" /></figure>
</div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Web Maps for Internal Communication</h3>

<p>Web maps play a key role in sharing spatial information across the organisation.<br>They allow <strong>non-technical staff</strong> to access important GIS layers, view project boundaries, and check environmental constraints.</p>

<p>These maps <strong>increase awareness of where things are</strong>, helping teams understand the location of key features like environmental constraints, rehabilitation areas, and infrastructure.<br>This spatial awareness helps teams make better decisions and reduces the risk of errors caused by outdated or incomplete information.</p>

<p>Staff can also <strong>print maps directly from the web portal</strong>, making it easier to prepare reports, support internal approvals, and communicate project updates.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-style-default"><img decoding="async" width="1264" height="739" src="http://51.161.208.234:8080/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/webmap-case-study2.jpg" alt="Web Maps for Internal Communication" class="wp-image-1504" srcset="https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/webmap-case-study2.jpg 1264w, https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/webmap-case-study2-300x175.jpg 300w, https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/webmap-case-study2-1024x599.jpg 1024w, https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/webmap-case-study2-768x449.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1264px) 100vw, 1264px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Environmental Compliance Dashboard: Saving Time on Reporting</h3>

<p>One of the latest additions is the <strong>custom environmental dashboard</strong>.<br>This dashboard tracks environmental disturbances and rehabilitation efforts across projects.</p>

<p>It provides <strong>real-time data</strong> needed for several mandatory compliance reports, including:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Mining Rehabilitation Fund (MRF)</li>

<li>Annual Environmental Report</li>

<li>DWER Compliance Assessment Report</li>
</ul>

<p>These reports are traditionally time-consuming and data-intensive.<br>With the dashboard, most of the reporting process is now automated.<br>The dashboard also helps detect discrepancies early, improving data accuracy before reports are due.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1275" height="1131" src="http://51.161.208.234:8080/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/enviro-dashboard3.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1509" srcset="https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/enviro-dashboard3.jpg 1275w, https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/enviro-dashboard3-300x266.jpg 300w, https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/enviro-dashboard3-1024x908.jpg 1024w, https://www.gispro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/enviro-dashboard3-768x681.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1275px) 100vw, 1275px" /></figure>

<p></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">The Results – Efficiency, Autonomy, and ROI</h3>

<p>By adopting GIS Pro’s Enterprise GIS Solution, Deep Yellow achieved:</p>

<ol class="wp-block-list">
<li>A centralised and reliable spatial data system</li>

<li>Reliable field data collection process </li>

<li>Improved internal communication through web maps</li>

<li>Streamlined environmental compliance reporting</li>

<li>Increased autonomy, reducing the need for external GIS services</li>
</ol>

<p>This translates directly into <strong>time savings, reduced errors, and lower operational costs</strong>.<br>The <strong>return on investment (ROI)</strong> has been clear, with benefits seen across departments, from exploration to environment.</p>

<p>If your organisation wants to improve how spatial data supports your operations, <strong>get in touch with us</strong>.<br>We specialise in helping small and medium mining companies become spatially autonomous, just like Deep Yellow.</p>
